I just got an email from my french exchange student. Her name is Marine and she sounds really nice. She just sent me this email:
Hello Chelsea !
I’m Marine, your French correspondent. I don’t know if you prefer me to write in English rather than in French or the contrary so I write in English, but tell me your preference.
I have received the papers you fulfilled about yourself and your family a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t found time to write you since then. But I’m presently in holidays so I can introduce myself. Well, I’m 16 and a half, I am the eldest in my family : I have a brother who is 13 and a sister who is 9. My brother’s name is Clément and my sister’s one is Océane. We live with both our parents in a house in Olivet. It’s a small city just next to Orléans and Orléans is situated about an hour and a half by car to the south of Paris. I also have many aunts and uncles, as well as cousins ; some of them live in Paris and its surroundings whereas others live in Normandie, a region in the North West of France. There is even one of my father’s sisters who lives with her husband and her 2 sons not so far from you, given that they live in Canada, more precisely in Montreal.
Let’s speak about school now (but not for a too long time, it’s the holidays !). I’m in terminale, it’s the last year of high school. I study Maths, Physics, Biology, Philosophy (pretty difficult !!), History and Geography, English, Spanish, Latin and Sport. I also do sport as extra activities : I swim and I play tennis. I really would like to do gymnastic as well, but I don’t have enough time because of the homework. And this summer I went to Australia with some students and 2 teachers of the school. It was extremely interesting and funny ! I spent a whole month in Adelaide, in the South of the country. Unfortunately it was the winter in the South hemisphere but anyway, I had a great time over there.
And I went to Canada a bit more than 3 years ago but the trip was organized in a part of the country where they spoke French.
Did you receive the program of what you would do in France ? Will you visit Paris or other regions of France apart from Orleans’ one ?
Would you like me to send you a few pictures of my family and me ?
Another thing : we have the Internet at home but it doesn’t work very well. We called a technician (I don’t know if this word has a meaning in the context, but I don’t know how you call them) who came to see what the problem was. After his coming we managed to use the Internet during a week and then, nothing anymore. Now, we can connect ourselves but we can’t send e-mails, that’s why I use my mother’s address at her office at the moment. I will warn you as soon as I’ll have my own e-mail address.
I gonna leave you because I’m about to go to the tennis courts to play with my brother and 2 friends. I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon so as to know you a bit better.
Bye Chelsea ! XOXO (do you use these signs ? I think, but I’m not sure, that one of them means “hug” and the other “kiss”)
